15/02/09: New for 2009 at Thorpe Park will be Saw The Ride. Situated in Canada Creek the ride is a Gerstlauer Euro Fighter. Sadly departing in 2009 is Miss Hippos Fungal Safari which has operated in the park since the early 90s.
27/09/08: Site updated with Construction photo's of the 2009 Coaster.
13/07/08: Sign's have appeared around Merlin's attraction apologizing that the reason their attraction cost so much more than similar attractions in the EU is because of the UK's high rate of VAT that is set at 17.5%, while some EU countries only pay 5%. However, following a bit of research to see if the tax difference made the prices equal, all indications I have found indicate that Germany (where a lot of the best parks are) pay 19% for VAT and still have parks that are £8 cheaper to the guest! It is also not clear why these signs have appeared especially when you consider that VAT has been set at 17.5% for over 20 years.
It may be cold and occasionally snowing, but thats no reason not to get down to Thorpe Park and have a great day on the rides. If you still need more of a reason though, you can get your tickets from Buy A Gift where Thorpe Park tickets start at just 8.
Thorpe Park have been granted planning permission for a Gerstlauer Euro Fighter to open in 2009. The ride will be located in the Canada Creek area of the park and consists of a Zero-G Roll, Vertical Lift Hill, 97 Degree Drop, Immelmann Loop, Immelmann Turn, Over Banked Turn, and Dive Loop.
For more information on the new ride and to keep up with its construction visit the Canada Creek Coaster section on the site.
