Colossus is the world's first 10 looping coaster. Not only that but it's actually a good ride at the same time! I say that because when designing a coaster that's going to break a record such as number of inversions, there's always the danger of just designing how you could fit inversions into the required space and end up with a horrible ride.
Colossus brings the theme of the area to a reality, with a mix of paths and bits of the ride supported by what seams to be ancient pillars (however I don't think they had tarmac in those days).
The layout is very simple (Simple! In a 10 looping coaster! How could that be) after the left hill you turn back on yourself and go down the curved drop, and into the vertical loop. Following this you go over a bunny-hop, the only ride element that isn't an inversion! Now we come to the cobra roll to make you face the other way again (Inversion count so far is 3). Next it's the corkscrews one after the other both going to the right, and then we go round a long bend to turn round again. At this point the train slows down a lot because the bend is uphill, this is because half the ride is lower than the station. Ok we have 5 inversions now, the next 4 are all inline twists one after the other. Round the corner at the other end of the ride and then we have another inline twist into the station. There we have it 10 inversions (thought you said it was a 10 looping coaster?).
