Lost City is one of the newer areas to open at Thorpe Park and is themed around a Egyptian lost city. It is the place where a lot of the thrill rides can be found in the park, such as Vortex, Samurai and Rush. It also is the area that is most visible from outside the park situated on the left side of the entrance across the lake from the car park.
The biggest introduction to lost city came in 2002 when the worlds first 10 looping roller coaster opened with the name Colossus. The ride featured a vertical loop, 2 corkscrews, a cobra roll and 5 in-line twists (4 located one after the other). This was not the first time the area had seen a world record holding ride though. In 1996 X:\ No Way Out opened as the world's first in the dark backwards roller coaster and to this day it still is.
